This Friday is a really important day! VE Day stands for Victory in Europe Day. It took place on May 8th 1945 and marked the formal conclusion of the war with Germany.

On Friday 8th May 2020 it will be 75 years since the guns fell silent at the end of the war in Europe. To remember this important time, VE Day 75 is a three-day international celebration that will take place from 8th May to 10th May 2020. We will remember all those who contributed to the war effort.

Find out more about VE Day and how we will be marking this event as a school by watching the following video. There is a competition involved, and an invitation for you all to join us in celebrating this Friday!

Please send any photos of you and your families celebrating VE Day to a.duncan@rosary.camden.sch.uk

Thank you so much for this video Miss Duncan! I have learnt so much from you all about this important day. One of my favourite new facts is that the Queen and her sister snuck out to join the crowds and the celebrations. We will definitely be having a picnic on Friday! I cannot wait to see how you all celebrate.

What a wonderful video Miss Duncan! So many fascinating facts and great ideas for celebrations.
I remember when we celebrated the 50th anniversary of VE Day at Rosary School -we all wore red, white and blue and had a massive tea party in the playground (now I’m really showing my age!).
I can’t wait to see how you celebrate at home children.

That was lovely Miss Duncan, some amazing facts that we seem to forget about as time goes by, so glad to be reminded of the importance of this time! I’m looking forward to seeing how our Rosary families celebrate at home too . Have a super weekend and raise your glasses of juice to toast the nation at 3 pm and make some noise at 7 pm x
