Today we attended a Zoom workshop at the Jewish Museum! We learned about Judaism. We found out why Jewish people wear ‘kippahs,’ and how the Torah differs from the Bible. We learned that Judaism has similarities to our faith. They also follow commandments- but they have 613 commandments in the Torah!
The Torah is so sacred, people are not allowed to touch the scroll with their hands. A ‘yad’ (which means ‘hand’ in Hebrew) is used instead. We were lucky enough to see a Torah over Zoom, as well as different ‘kippah’ designs! We really enjoyed learning about this religion and cannot wait for Judaism week- it was such an exciting introduction to this focus in R.E.
What do you know about Judaism? Can you leave a comment about a fact that you learned from the session?
