Catholic Social Teaching is based on the belief that God has a plan for creation, a plan to build his kingdom of peace, love and justice.

Our brand new Catholic Social Teaching Theme for this term is: The Common Good.

What is ‘true community’?

The common good is reached when we work together to improve the wellbeing of people around us and throughout the world. Everyone is included and made to feel part of a team.

The principle of the Common Good focuses on our human need for and value of friendship and community.

In the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus showed us how to be a good friend and take care of others in need.

We don’t just think about ourselves, or just our close group of friends, but we look around to see who might be lonely, left out or hurt.

Jesus teaches to look out for these people, and include them, because they are part of our family. This is how we can be a good community. This is the common good.
