The Chicks have had a wonderful week learning all about the story of Rama and Sita and their great adventure. The Chicks decorated Mendhi hands and talkesd about all the beautiful colours and patterns that are used.
They then used salt dough – made from salt, flour, oil and water to design and make their own Diya lamps. The amazing thing about salt dough is that when you cook it, it becomes as hard as a rock and you can paint it! 
We painted our Diya lamps bright colours. 
Next we decorated them with glitter… 
Finally we made the wick for our candle using cotton wool and melted Gee! The Chicks had SO much fun finding out about this beautiful festival.
