Today children in Eagles visited The Foundling Museum in London. We were greeted by Daniel who filled our heads with so much information about children who were left in the foundling hospitals and what life was like for them. We analysed a painting of Thomas Coram, the founder of the Foundling Hospital, and found out that he was a sea captain and philanthropist. He set up the hospital after being shocked by the sights of dying infants on the streets of London in the 1700s.
The foundling museum was so fun. It’s was so interesting finding out what the children had to do and other things! The bed for the teenager was tiny wow!! ?

The trip was very interesting. ? My name got changed to Constance. I learnt that if you lived in The Foundling Museum.
I really liked going to The Foundling Museum because we got to learn a lot about the Victorians and what children wore and about Thomas Coram opening The Foundling Hospital.
At the museum we were all given Victorian names. Someone else got the name Maxine which is like mine! I was Patsy for the day. Daniel put us into groups and gave us a circle of string roughly the size of a slum. I had to squeeze in with about ten others! We also came up with charities in groups and how we could raise money for that charity. My group thought of a charity that fought cancer and thought that we could raise money by setting up a play starring a famous actor with cancer. After some deliberation, we came up with Leah Bracknell, an Ex-Emmerdale actress who is suffering from terminal lung cancer. We also drew a quick sketch of ourselves with things surrounding us that showed off who we were.
