The chicks in Nursery love books and story time. This term they have been visiting our school library in groups to peruse a wider variety of books and listen to a range of stories. Each child will be choosing a story book to take home and share with their grown ups. When your child shares their chosen book with you, you could ask them questions about the characters, their emotions and discuss the story language with them. Ask your child if they know what the Author does or the Illustrator, as the children have been learning about these very important roles in their library sessions.
Top 3 books in class so far have been:-
1. Owl Babies by Martin Waddell and Patrick Benson.
2. Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen, (We would recommend watching Michael Rosen retell his story on youtube).
3. The snail and the whale by Julia Donaldson and Axel Schieffer.
After our exciting Lion Hunt in the Nursery, we think the children may put the ‘Lion Hunt’ by David Antell story at the top of their list! (Who is that fierce looking Lion?)
