Eagles have learned a very tricky new skill this week.  They have learned how to lead a Sung Responsorial Psalm.  They did very well in working out the speech patterns of the text and fitting it to the simple tune.  Over the weekend, it would be helpful to become even more familiar with the text and the tune so that the whole class can lead the psalm confidently in Mass next week. THERE IS NO NEED TO LEARN IT BY HEART (We will have word sheets).See if you can work out how to fit the tune to parts of the text that we didn’t do in class.

See if you can work out how to fit the tune to parts of the text that we didn’t do in class.  Mrs Wright has sung the first two verses for you to remind you on the audio track below.

THE LORD HAS DONE THE LORD HAS DONE MARVELS FOR ME

HOLY IS HIS NAME

1. My soul glorifies the Lord

My Spirit rejoices in God my saviour

2. He looks on his servant in her nothingness;

Hence-forth all ages will call me blessed.

THE LORD HAS DONE MARVELS FOR ME

HOLY IS HIS NAME

3. The Almighty works marvels for me.

Holy is his name

4. His mercy is from age to age

On those  who fear him

THE LORD HAS DONE MARVELS FOR ME

HOLY IS HIS NAME

5. He puts forth his arm in strength

And scatters the proud  hearted

6. He casts the mighty from their thrones

And raises the lowly.

THE LORD HAS DONE MARVELS FOR ME

HOLY IS HIS NAME

7. He fills the hungry with good things.

He sends the rich away empty

8. He protects his servant, Israel

And raises the lowly

THE LORD HAS DONE MARVELS FOR ME

HOLY IS HIS NAME

9. The mercy promised to our fathers

For Abraham and his sons forever.

10.   Praise the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Now and forever,  world without end.

THE LORD HAS DONE MARVELS FOR ME

HOLY IS HIS NAME
