This Project will take 3 weeks

WEEK 1: Watch and listen to “O Fortuna” and complete the worksheet
WEEK 2: Make Dance moves for the characters in our version “Ice and Fire”
WEEK 3: Play instruments in our ballet orchestra and make a video of your singing and playing.

THIS WEEK you can do all or just some of the following activities: “O Fortuna” worksheet

All these activities are also on the google classroom.

Activity 1: WATCH THE VIDEO and answer the following questions

Did you like the film?

What was your favourite part?

Did you find any of it scary?

ACTIVITY 2: THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE

“O Fortuna” is a song about the goddess of fortune.  In the story of Carmina Burana, the ancient Greek people believe that their future was decided by The Goddess.

She would be in charge of their luck, she would decide their fortune.

Here is a wheel of fortune, which the goddess spins to choose the future of the people.

What do you think might be in the blank spaces?

ACTIVITY 3: SING OUR VERSION OF THE SONG

Do you remember the words we wrote to this song, when our friends at the Orchestra Up Close project came to visit us? Why don’t you try singing along with the backing track.

OH FORTUNA, VELUT LUNA,

STATU VARIABILIS

In a dark cave, A Fire Cave,

There lived a smart Super Girl.

With Ginger hair

Red, shiny cape

And laser flames from her eyes.

Then suddenly,

The Ice Man came,

Shooting out ice from his hands.

She turned around

And flames came out

He melted like a snowman.

This is our song,

Our gift to you.

Our story of light and doom.

Not right or wrong,

The things you do.

You change your mind like the moon

This is our song,

Our gift to you.

Our story of light and doom.

Not right or wrong,

The things you do.

You change your mind like different phases of the moon.

ACTIVITY 4: DRAW A CHARACTER

Maybe you would like to draw a picture of the Fire Girl or Ice Man.

I would love to hear how you have been enjoying the music activities this week.

Please email any examples of work or any photos of drawing, videos of singing to p.wright@rosary.camden.sch.uk or upload to the Google Classroom.
