During Judaism Week, our Year 1 students had the opportunity to celebrate the Sabbath, a special day of rest in Jewish tradition. As part of our learning, we set up a traditional Sabbath meal, where the children explored the different elements involved. They learned about the lighting of the Shabbat candles, the blessing over the challah bread, and the prayer for grape juice, symbolising joy and peace. It was a wonderful experience to understand the customs and rituals of this important religious tradition. The students thoroughly enjoyed learning about world religions and discovering how diverse cultures celebrate meaningful traditions.
