Julie came to visit us today to speak about anti- bullying. We learned so much!
We know that bullying has to happen repeatedly and is not a one off occasion. It is when others are horrible to us repeatedly and make us feel very sad. Julie reminded us of the old saying ‘sticks and bones may break my bones but words will always hurt me.’
We learned some key ways of dealing with bullying. We can always tell a trusted adult if we think we are being bullied.
We learned how to use the chocolate bubble: no one can hurt us in there! We learned the parrot method, which is where we repeat what the bully says so that they get bored! We also learned about the jolly joker method where we are polite to bullies and say things like, ‘good to know!’ if they are mean to us! It confuses them!
In our classrooms, we spoke about finding things that we are good at. We even told our friends what we think they are good at. It was so nice to hear from others what they think we can do well. We know the effects that bullying can have on other children and we know that it is never acceptable. Always tell an adult if you are unhappy with the way others are treating you.
