Last term, each class took part in a whole school Art project inspired by British artists of African and Caribbean heritage. The artworks you will see in this display are all inspired by the famous works of: Lubaina Himid, Frank Bowling, Sonia Boyce, Winston Branch, Donald Rodney, Uzo Egonu, Yinka Shonibare, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, Mikaela Henry-Lowe and Chris Ofili .
Each class was given an artist to research and discuss over half term and on return to school the children created their own pieces inspired by their artist. The children used a range of materials from collage to chalks and paints with some even experimenting with string and paint mark making.
The pieces not only showcase the considerable talents of the artists we have here at The Rosary but also celebrate the wonderful diversity of our school and community.
The work is currently on display on our back stairs but we wanted to share it with you at home, please enjoy our video as a quick window into this exciting and vibrant project.
WOW! What wonderful art work Rosary! You have all worked so hard and I feel so inspired. Thank you for brightening up our corridors! And thanks to Miss Stefanou for all her hard work on this 🙂
