Yesterday 14 extremely lucky students had the opportunity to travel to Google Head Quarters and compete in the Camden Chess Tournament. The day began with some lessons and brain games led by professional chess instructors who challenged and prepared the players for their upcoming matches. After the lunch break, our 14 Chess stars played off in an open tournament against some of Camden’s best strategic thinkers. Competitors ranged in age from Year 3 to Year 6 and the competition was extremely tight. Some matches lasted no longer than 2 minutes as players forced their opponents into checkmate.
Our school representatives were absolutely outstanding and took out the overall team championship for the entire tournament. Our school was presented a special cup that will live in our trophy cabinet. A huge congratulations goes to these indivduals who placed in the top 3 in their respective catergories:
Bronze Medalists:
Emilia, Melody, Alejandra, Justine, Iulia, Finley
Silver Medalists:
Noah, Deia, Melody
Gold Medalists:
Lucas, Isabelle & Junior
