Today we visited the Aga Khan Centre. We looked at the exhibition, ‘Seeds of Trees, Sounds of Mountains.’ We loved looking at the different artwork. Then we had an opportunity to sketch one of the pieces of art, or to use the art as inspiration for our own designs. Some of us shared what we had drawn with the rest of the class.
We then went outside to see the gardens. We spoke about the use of repeated, geometric patterns. We saw the Garden of Tranquility and the Garden of Life. The Garden of Life was inspired by India. We saw a water channel which is really important in Islamic culture. We also saw a Chadar Waterfall. We learned that these gardens are typically split into 4 parts. We visited the Garden of Light where there was Calligraphy as well as Magnolia trees. Some of the views of London were incredible! Of course, we loved having lunch afterwards! A huge thank you to Emily for leading the session!
