In our class assembly, we took the audience on an exciting journey through the world of volcanoes and rocks. We began by introducing volcanoes and explaining how they are formed. To bring history to life, we acted out a dramatic scene from Escape from Pompeii which we have been reading in our Literacy lessons. Following this, we shared an example of our own setting descriptions using Super Sentences and ambitious vocabulary. Then, we explored different types of rocks, explaining how they are formed and their unique properties and uses in architecture and our everyday lives. Finally, we wrapped up by highlighting the incredible work of Mary Anning, a pioneering fossil hunter, as we discussed fossils and their significance.
