Today Key Stage 1 had a brilliant day based around Florence Nightingale and her life.
The children came dressed for the occasion and learnt many interesting facts about what Florence did and her impact on nursing, even today.
In the morning the children worked their way around creative stations. They had the opportunity to make candle holders, create their own books and even apply for a job at the Scutari Hospital. There were sewing activities, painting and decorating cards from the era of Florence Nightingale’s life.
Before lunchtime the children acted as detectives and were able to handle interesting artifacts from the time of Florence Nightingale.
In the afternoon all the children really got into role. They acted in role as nurses and soldiers, or hospital workers.
The children thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the day and we are very thankful to History off the Page and to all the parents and staff who helped to make the day run as smoothly as it did.
