Today Toucans were visited by Freshwater Theatre! We had a fantastic workshop based on our topic ‘Whatever the Weather.’
We spoke about different types of weather and the four seasons. Then we went on an adventure which involved us ‘travelling’ through many different types of weather. We spoke about different items we may need to take, including a scarf, umbrella, a hat and a map! Then we spoke about compasses and different directions. We practised moving around the room – travelling North, South, East and West! We spoke about how the UK has a temperate climate – we can feel all 4 seasons! Then we took a ‘plane’ to the Sahara desert! After that we visited India! We learned that the elephants there have adapted to the monsoon climate! They follow the sound of the rain as they know that this cools them down. Next we went to the Antarctic! This is the coldest place on Earth! We huddled like penguins do to stay warm!
Then we went to the North Pole! Polar bears live here but penguins do not. We learnt about their wide paws which stop them slipping on the ice. Then we all made noises to sound like the different seasons! We finished our session with some games all about the weather! We loved learning about the weather, seasons and different locations across the world!
