Our RE topic this half term is Inspirational People. Father Nicholas visited us today to lead a Topic Talk with UKS2. He challenged us to think about the aspects of a person we found inspirational eg. a skill, a strength, something we admired in them.
A key message that we took away was the meaning of the word ‘inspire’ – to breathe in. How do you plan to use the ‘Breath of God’ to help you to become the kind of person you want to be?
Who you feel most inspired by and why?
I learned a lot during the session with Father Nicholas. It’s great that we have an opportunity to learn about God.
Father Nicholas helped me to understand that insprational people can be anyone. He also taught me that inspration means to breathe in God‘s breath.
I would have never thought the inspire meant breathe in.
I am most inspired by the Mirabal sisters. They stood up to a mean and cruel leader who was treating women unfairly. This man tried many tactics to silence the sisters, even going as far as kidnapping the mother of the women. Luckily, they did not back down and that man was soon put out of power.
We had a great Topic talk from Father Nicholas.?
I learnt a lot during this session (as always) and it really made me think about inspirational people. An excellent start to our new RE topic! I learnt that the word ‘inspire’ comes from the to words in and spire meaning breath in latin. ‘The breath of God’ is the holy spirit and travels inside us to give us the strength to help us be the person we want to be and fight our fears. Thanks Father. Nicholas
He helped us a lot with this topic and I’m very thankful. I know this will be interesting that’s for sure!!! THANK YOU
I have been having some great conversations over lunch with our Rosary children about who inspires them. Such lovely and thoughtful ideas – I find myself being inspired by the children of this very school! Miss McGrory
