Our focus book has been On the way home by Gill Murphy. It is all about a little girl called Claire who sets off home to tell her Mum all about her bad knee. On the way home, she meets various friends and tells each of them a different story as to how she got her bad knee. These stories include gorillas coming out of garages, witches swooping down from the sky with their shopping bags and dragons soaring through the air! We had a fabulous time acting it out. It was so much fun!
Claire had a bad knee. She set off home to tell her Mum all about it.
On the way home, she met her friend and told her that a very big bad wolf had tried to eat her and that’s how she got her bad knee!
Then she met another friend. She told him that a vast flying saucer had flew down from space and an alien had tried to take her away!
She told another friend that a crocodile had tried to drag her into the river!
Then, apparently, a big fat snake had tried to squash and squeeze her but she tickled it to get away!
Then a dragon came soaring out of the clouds and tried to pick her up with it’s claws!
Shortly after, a big hairy gorilla came out of a garage and tried to steal her!
Then, a ghastly ghost came flying out of a graveyard and tried to sneak her away.
She told the last friend she meets, a wicked old witch tried to put her into her shopping bag but she broke it with her feet and was free!
Finally she arrived home and burst into tears.
She told her Mum all about how she had fallen off a swing in the park and that’s how she got her bad knee. Her Mum said she could have the biggest plaster in the whole box on it.
