Today, we did a Science experiment where we investigated the plaque on our teeth.
We learnt how important it is to brush our teeth properly as food and plaque has bacteria in it which produces an acid. This acid breaks down the protective coating on our teeth (which is called enamel) and can cause gum disease and cavities.
We then used plaque disclosing tablets to see the plaque on our teeth. We could see the difference between the darker colour which showed the plaque which had been there for longer, and the lighter colour which was recent plaque. We had a great time analysing our teeth-brushing habits and learning how to brush our teeth even more effectively.
