We have had a very busy, fun- filled week!
On Wednesday, we went to Sea Life Aquarium to further our learning about our topic, Under the Sea. We got the bus to Waterloo (and were very well behaved!)
When we arrived at the Aquarium, we had an Adaptation Workshop where we learned all about different animals around the globe. We learned how they were adapted to their living environment. C and A even pretended to be a penguin and sea horse so we could guess which adaptations they had!
We then made our very own sea creatures which would live in a coral reef or the open ocean! We worked in groups and discussed which adaptations they would have e.g. googly eyes.
After that, we saw jelly fish and even had our lunch next to a massive tank! There were sharks and sting rays to look at while we ate!
After lunch we were able to see the penguins! They were being fed so it was extra exciting! There was even a little window we could peep through to watch the penguins- it was so much fun! We saw lots more fish along the way.
When we left the Aquarium, Miss Duncan couldn’t resist taking a photo of us all outside the snowy London Eye. Seeing central London so snowy and pretty was such a special sight.
The next day was World Book Day! We had so many fantastic characters. As a class we have read the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and so it was lovely to see two children from Macaws class dressed up as two of the characters! We even had a dragon from the Paper Bag Princess and Charlie from the Chocolate Factory which we have read together too. We shared who we were dressed as and spoke about the book our character was from.
We then had a ‘nic a book’ session where we shared our books with each other and then even swapped classes! We read a book with other Year 2s from Toucans and Year 1s from Lorikeets. It was such fun to share our stories and read together. What a fun day! Well done for your fabulous costumes!
