Today we had an adventure into Hampstead Heath to find the Secret Garden! Hidden in the trees of the Heath is a time portal. Once we stepped through, we were people from the Stone Age on a mission to survive
First, we examined artefacts, such as antlers, flints and animal furs. We discussed what we might use these artefacts for. The furs could be used as clothing or shelter, while the flints could be used for hunting or making a fire.
Next, we learnt how to make a fire from scratch. We scraped and scraped until we created sparks. When the sparks made contact with cotton wool, a flame erupted! Phew – now we would be able to cook and stay warm.
Finally, we got to work on designing and building some dens. We gathered larger sticks to make a strong and stable base for our structures, then gathered smaller sticks to provide shelter from the weather.
