Today we had a visit from Andrew who works for a charity called The Passage.
This charity supports many many homeless people in London. Last year the charity helped over 500 people come off the streets, get a home and a job. They also helped hundreds others to have a place to sleep or just some hot food and clean clothes.
We are delighted to support this charity again for another year. We are asking families to make donations of non-perishable goods; tins and packets of food with long life expire dates. Do you have a few spare tins and packets in your cupboards?
Using your donations, the charity put together food parcels for homeless people moving into new accommodation as well as helping those still on the streets. The charity have a walk in centre where they provide clean clothes, washing facilities and support with other health issues and counsellors are there to offer support. So donations of toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo and other such items are also greatly appreciated.
Your donations will be collected by our Chaplaincy Team from 8.45 am every morning this week in the playground or the small hall if it is raining. Andrew will return to school and collect all our donations ready to help the homeless and make a real difference to people’s lives.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
We would also like to extend our thanks to all Year 5 and 6 children who are champions of this charity and have carried out a great amount of research about the good work of this charity which they shared with their friends in assembly today.
