During our afternoon assembly yesterday, Miss Scott came running in with an amazing discovery from the building site next door…a time capsule from 1957! We couldn’t believe it! Miss Gaffney and Miss McGrory looked through the capsule and we found a scroll, religious medallions and money from this era. In celebration of this extraordinary event, we have set all the children a challenge to find out as much as they possible can about the 1950s and we will be holding a 1950s day on Thursday 19th May which will culminate in a ‘Dreamboats and Petticoats’ party after school in the playground from 3.30pm onwards. You are all invited! Dress up if you can in 1950s attire and warm up your vocal cords for our rock n roll karaoke! Please use the comment box below to share anything you have found out about the 1950s!
I know that they used an entirely different system for measuring called the ‘Imperial’ system! Some of my relatives still use this system today. Ask your relatives what system they use!
It is really amazing that we acutely found a time capsule in our school!!
The music was awesome, thanks to Elvis Presley!
Many of my relatives still think in ‘imperial’ measures too.
I don’t know that much at the moment but i am hoping to find out more on 1950s day 🙂
