Today we visited the British Library! We learnt how to use our words, voices and bodies to help us be the best story tellers possible!
Then we saw the King’s library and the stamp collection. We created stories out of these stamps! We did a freeze frame of the different images in the stamps.
There are 170 things in the British Library! We looked at a model of the British Library and learned where the books are all kept.
Then we listened to a traditional tale: The Three Little Pigs. However… some of the story was missing! There was no wolf! We retold it with the big bad wolf using our voices, bodies and thinking carefully about the words. We acted out key parts of the story in pairs. One of us was the actor and the other was the mirror. The actor freeze framed a key part of the story, thinking about how the character would be positioned and how they would look and feel. The mirror then copied their partner.
We loved choosing which ending we wanted to hear of the story. We voted for a happy ending for both the pigs and the wolf! Stories can end in so many different ways – we loved this ending which isn’t the most traditional!
We loved our school trip and will apply all we have learnt in the workshop the next time we tell a story!
