Year 5 Eagles enjoyed a visit to The Francis Crick Institute for some wonderful science learning. We had a wonderful lesson with Andy about atoms and how they are made to make compounds. We then conducted our own experiment on 5 different substances to identify which one was corn starch. It took a lot of very precise and careful use of scientific equipment but everyone was very focused and each team completed all 25 experiments to identify the corn starch. Our afternoon session on circuits was also very fun as all teams managed to build functioning circuits which sent spinners into the air. Whilst this session has to be cut short due to a fire alarm, the children were very mature as they evacuated and got wonderful compliments from many of the staff on how calm, polite and patient they were.

Have a look at our budding scientists below!
