Geography
Geography at Rosary inspires children to be curious and fascinated about the world and the people who share it. We want our children to develop a genuine sense of wonder about the planet — understanding its physical landscapes, its human patterns and the interconnections between places, peoples and environments.
Our Geography curriculum builds systematically from EYFS to Year 6, developing children's locational knowledge, place knowledge, and understanding of human and physical geography alongside key geographical skills such as map reading, fieldwork and the use of data. Children study a range of places at local, national and global scales, making comparisons and identifying patterns that help them make sense of the world.
Fieldwork and enquiry are at the heart of our Geography curriculum. Children venture beyond the classroom — exploring the local area of Hampstead and Camden, and comparing it with contrasting environments closer to home and across the globe. These first-hand experiences are complemented by the use of maps, atlases, aerial photographs and digital tools.
Geography at Rosary is intrinsically connected to our Catholic ethos. We want children to recognise the beauty and fragility of God's creation, and to develop a sense of responsibility for the world they inhabit. Questions of sustainability, climate, global inequality and environmental stewardship are woven naturally into our Geography curriculum, helping to form children who are thoughtful global citizens.
